Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace. The Nobel Prize is an international award administered by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1968, Sveriges Riksbank established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize. The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025
The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet today awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Dr. Mary E. Brunkow of the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), together with Dr. Fred Ramsdell and Dr. Shimon Sakaguchi, for groundbreaking discoveries explaining how the immune system prevents attacks on the body’s own tissues (peripheral immune tolerance).
