About AIRI
AIRI unites independent, not-for-profit biomedical and behavioral research institutes around a shared goal: strengthening science through networking, education, and advocacy. We work to ensure our member institutions have a voice on the federal issues that shape research funding and regulation.
Because independent research institutes are often subject to different rules than universities, they can face barriers their academic counterparts don't. AIRI is committed to leveling that playing field — so researchers at member institutions have equal access to funding, resources, and opportunity, wherever they do their work.
Our Mission
Founded in 1962, AIRI is an association of independent, not-for-profit biomedical and behavioral research institutes whose mission is to enhance the ability of its members to improve human health and advance knowledge.
