The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is a non‐profit biomedical research institute based in Phoenix, Arizona, focused on research that can help patients with cancer, neurological disorders, diabetes and other debilitating conditions. Working with a worldwide network of collaborators in the scientific and medical communities, Tgen researchers study the genetic components of both common and complex diseases. Through genomic analysis, we learn how DNA, genes and proteins – the microscopic building block of life – can affect human health. Our 41 lead investigators and nearly 300 support personnel at sites in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Flagstaff, Arizona, are dedicated to improving patient care and quality of life through precision medicine, best defined as the right therapy, for the right patient, at the right time.

Description: The Grant Program Manager is responsible for the program management of the day-to-day operation of large scale, multi-component grants, including the administrative, financial and regulatory oversight of the grant, program coordination with the participating sites, progress report preparation, site visit coordination, meeting preparation, and communication with internal staff as required.

Detailed Description

  • Primarily responsible for the Institute's large-scale, multi-component grants (e.g., program projects grants including P01, P50, cooperative grants including U19, U54 and other large program grants including RC2) and acts as primary liaison with PIs, Sponsored Research administrators, project managers, project accountants, and additional administrative personnel on all aspects of the grants, including pre- and post-award issues.

  • Works with the Finance Office to oversee the post-award financial grants management, including communication with external sponsors in regard to budget reallocations, reporting, and request for carry forward for large grant awards.

  • Assists researchers and Sponsored Research administrators in grant proposal preparation and annual progress reports, including budgets, administrative documents, and formatted proposal per the sponsor’s requirements.

  • Is the Point-of Contact for multi-component grants, including coordinating communication amongst sites, grant meetings, and internal and external grant activities.

  • Provides grant program management for awarded projects including maintenance of relevant grant documents, composition of grant correspondence, preparation of Administrative Core/Unit presentations, and oversight, in conjunction with the Office of Research Compliance, of regulatory issues related to the research program.

  • Maintains current knowledge of Institute and federal, state, and agency guidelines for Sponsored Research administration.

  • Works with Director, Office of Sponsored Research in developing, maintaining and updating all program administration's standard operating procedures, especially as related to large grants.

  • Performs other job-related duties as requested by the Director, Office of Sponsored Research, and Chief Operating Officer. Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, accounting, or related field required. 2+ years of demonstrated experience with pre- and post-award experience at a non-profit research institution or university/college required. Research administration experience and/or understanding of pre-award administration preferred.

Advanced degrees (MS, MBA) or comparable working experience in both business and the life sciences (biology, genetics, chemistry, etc.) are strongly desired.
