The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen)
is a non‐profit biomedical research institute based in Phoenix,
Arizona, focused on research that can help patients with cancer,
neurological disorders, diabetes and other debilitating conditions.
Working with a worldwide network of collaborators in the scientific
and medical communities, Tgen researchers study the genetic
components of both common and complex diseases. Through genomic
analysis, we learn how DNA, genes and proteins – the microscopic
building block of life can affect human health. Our 41 lead
investigators and nearly 300 support personnel at sites in Phoenix,
Scottsdale and Flagstaff, Arizona, are dedicated to improving
patient care and quality of life through precision medicine, best
defined as the right therapy, for the right patient, at the right
time.
Description: This position is responsible for
the management of the Finance functions including internal and
external reporting, budgeting and forecasting, grant accounting and
revenue recognition, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll,
risk management, and treasury. Acts as a liaison between CFO and
Finance staff to accomplish goals as determined by TGen operating
management, the CFO and the Controller. Detailed
Description:

Oversee the timely and accurate issuance of
external financial statements and internal financial operating
reports, including interaction with outside auditors for annual
financial and federal grant audits.

Ensure adherence to external (regulatory)
rules including GAAP, OMB Cir A-133, and IRS.

Perform high-level analysis of complex
accounting issues and provide oversight and guidance to the
Finance department.

Oversee preparation of annual budget, and
ongoing forecasting of operations and cash. Oversee preparation
of annual tax reporting including 1099, 990 and 990T.

Review and approve the work performed by
Finance staff members.

Provide guidance and training for finance
staff. Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and
policies.

Develop new systems and procedures to add
value to and provide more efficient departmental operations.
Job Requirements: This position requires a
minimum formal education of Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA,
and a minimum of 7 years job-related experience, experience in
non-profit accounting, federal grant accounting, Microsoft Office,
and Oracle accounting applications Requires advanced knowledge of
principles and practices within professional field of GAAP
accounting and federal grant accounting. Position may develop new
policies and procedures.
Desired experience: 2+ years of Big Four
Accounting firm experience, MBA, research environment.
